What an incredible day at the NHRA NAPA Y.E.S. (Youth & Education Services) Program racetrack!!! On Friday, September 26th, the Automotive Technology class at the SCI Center, along with 1,900 other students from from local vocational school’s, high school’s and trade school’s got together at the World Wide Technology Raceway to see how S.T.E.M is applied to both real world & NHRA  drag racing, hear about automotive industry careers and how it’s evolving, and a special talk on the future of automotive repair from race car driver, Ron Capps. McKay NAPA was on hand to talk to the students all about the auto parts industry along with having a few of their auto repair shop customers discussing their line of work, too. It was a fun, insightful, hands-on, and thrilling loud day!
SCI's Auto Tech Classes spent the day at World Wide Technology Raceway NHRA Midwest Nationals. Students heard from industry professionals representing the YES Program, which is a nationwide program that connects students with careers in the automotive and motorsports industries.
Moreso, students got to support one of their very own classmates, Timothy Hearn, who is competing this weekend. Students are pictured with Tim and his car, alongside his little brother, Brayden's dragster. We wish Tim the best of luck!
It was a great day of career exploration and racing!
